George III Cellarette

$3,200.00

A stunning George III cellarette c. 1800 with its original lead liner and brass handles made of a striking and unusual gonçalo alves tigerwood. Designed to store and cool wine, cellarettes came into fashion during the Georgian era as a way to keep guest’s well lubricated during large gatherings and parties and sometimes were referred to as “butlers’. Sitting atop four legs on brass castors, the cellarette can easily be moved from room to room throughout the night. The interior features ample room for bottles of all kinds and is partitioned in sections. A functional and beautiful piece of furniture, it is the crème de la crème of accessories for the discerning host or hostess and sure to make an impression.

Condition: Good, wear consistent with age and use. Age related splits in areas of the wood that are common in antique cellarettes. Splits are stable and now are merely cosmetic.
