George I Giltwood and Gesso Girandole

A stunning George I gilt wood and gilt gesso girandole with two brass candle arms and wonderfully foxed mercury mirror plate with its original backboard c. 1725. Of handsome proportions, the mirror has a broken swan neck pediment and central plume cresting, above a foliate carved frieze, and an overall softly gilded surface.

Dimensions: 43.3” H x 24.4” W

Condition: Good, age related wear, one of the nozzles to the sconces has been replaced. Drill holes on candelabra sconce and nozzle, drill holes on mirror body restored to original condition.
