19th Century Bouillotte Lamp
Fabulous 19th century Bouillotte hand painted table lamp. Made in France with adjustable tole metal shade, two candle holders, and gold hand painted detailing.
Originally designed for the French card game Bouillotte that was popular during the 18th and 19th century—similar to the modern game of poker—the Bouillotte lamp sat in the center of the playing table. As the game progressed, the lamp’s adjustable shade was moved accordingly to focus light on the cards at hand.
Condition: Good, wear consistent with age
