A stunning reverse glass Portrait of a Lady of Quality, 18th century, England. With the reverse glass technique, the portrait itself is painted directly onto a sheet of glass. The glass serves as the canvas for the painting and acts as a protective varnish. The female figure is elegantly dressed in the fashions of the time. Marked on the back ‘Frederick Hall Carver, Gilder, Print Seller 27 Bedford St Plymouth’.
