18th Century Arte Povera Wig Box

Discover this extraordinary 18th-century Arte Povera wig box adorned with figural and landscape scenes, including that of a wealthy merchant, a courtier dismounting from his horse, and a farmer surrounded by his pigs. These incredible boxes are quite rare due to the delicate nature of their paper decorations, and it is an exceptional example of their kind. Arte Povera, also referred to as Lacca Povera, is a decorative technique that originates from mid 18th century Venice , in which wood or cardboard is lacquered with colored paper engravings to imitate the more expensive Asian lacquers.
