Dimensions: 13.75” H x 12 1/4”

Condition: Good, age related wear and cockling to the surface of the vellum

Giovanna Garzoni was an Italian artist who was among the few women to gain prominence in the 1600s. She was known for her naturalistic still lives on vellum that combined scientific depictions with artistic feeling. Her unique style was celebrated across Europe, working for noble families in both France and Italy. While these particular watercolors are not done by her hand they are undeniably influenced by her style.
